What I do

As a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), counselor educator (PhD) and qualified supervisor (QS), I provide the following counseling, consultation and supervision services:

Counseling

Across our lifespans, we all encounter issues that require professional help. Counselors are trained and equipped to help people with the emotional and psychological issues they face through effective individual, group, couples and family treatment. Clients of different ages commonly struggle with issues that my counseling services can help them manage. The following are examples of what I do in counseling to help teens and adults with social and behavioral challenges:

Teens

  • Individual counseling to address social anxiety, puberty, bullying, relationship and behavior issues.
  • Family counseling to help adolescents better communicate and improve relationships with parents and other caregivers.

Adults

  • Individual counseling to learn and practice skills required for independence including friendship, dating, employment and beyond.
  • Couples counseling for those seeking improved intimacy, communication and overall relationship satisfaction.
  • Family counseling for parents who are looking for help coping with their teen or adult child's social and behavioral issues.

Consultation

As mentioned in my treatment approach, when everyone involved in a system is willing to make adjustments for themselves and others, working with a team can have remarkable results. The members of a system or team with whom I can consult aim to help clients at home, school, in recreational activities, in the workplace and beyond. These are examples of what I can do in consultation to improve social and behavioral challenges:

  • Work with any and all family members in the context of their home environment to make recommendations for better social and behavioral outcomes
  • Meet with administrators, teachers and other professionals to co-create solutions in schools to better academic, emotional and behavioral achievement
  • Provide assistance to employers who are looking for expert insights and interventions for managing social and behavioral struggles occurring in the workplace

Supervision

I am an approved, qualified supervisor for registered mental health counseling (MHC) and marriage and family therapy (MFT) interns in the state of Florida. Supervision aims to monitor and ensure the welfare of clients seen by new professional counselors and promote the development of identity. I provide weekly supervision in individual and group formats after graduation and before licensure to help prepare interns to pass licensing exams and complete supervision requirements to successfully become a licensed mental health counselor or licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Florida. See the licensing board website for more information.
